Twist and Shout

As I dug through my itunes library I stumbled across one of my favorite songs recorded by The Beatles. That is "Twist and Shout" recorded in 1963. However, this song originated a year before then in 1962 by the Isley Brothers. This song was originally called "Shout."

Twist and Shout was one biggest hit of it's time when the Beatles released it in 1963. The original was forgotten quickly as Beatlesmania swept across the nation. The Beatles covered the song because they loved that song at the time. Their version of the song ended up being much more popular than the original and they made it their own. The original and the cover have the same lyrics, however, the sound is completely different. I enjoy the Beatles version much more.

Sooper Bowl Commercial

This commercial is by far the commercial I laughed hardest during while watching the Super Bowl. I have never been much of a fan of Sketchers but they really challenged my view about them with this masterpiece. I am a runner for OU's cross country team and I would never use Sketchers as a running shoe but I still enjoyed this commercial thoroughly and I hope to see it more.

But..but..but my momma said (Pop Culture Literacy)

As I watch the end of Waterboy starring Adam Sandler. I realized that there is definitely reference to literacy. The main character, Bobby Boucher, grew up as a "dumb" boy that was the waterboy to a football team full of bullies all his life. He had an awful stutter and knew only what his momma told him. Once his hidden talent for tackling was discovered, he joined the football team and went to college and became a new man. The literacy part of the movie is the dialect and lifestyle Bobby lived before and after taking his new path toward fame and education. Bobby spoke broken English and lived a dirty swamp life. He was socially inept and suffered due to being overly protected by his overbearing crazy mother.

Technology is dumb!!! It's become more and more apparent that it's affecting our society in negative ways. I wish we could go back to the good ol' days of using our time in a useful, not technological, way ya know? Technology is changing our brains into a bowl of mashed potatoes. LOL
